Small Tribal And Native-Developed Business Interruption Grants
Dear Small Business Owners,
In these trying times, it is difficult to witness how unprecedented and catastrophic the COVID-19 pandemic has been across the world, our country, and our local communities. The COVID-19 pandemic has not only resulted in a staggering amount of sickness and death worldwide but has also shaken global financial markets and put the livelihood of millions of people at risk.
Perhaps no other individuals are more strongly affected by the financial impacts of COVID-19 than small business owners. The U.S. Small Business Administration (“SBA”) estimates that one-in-four small businesses will permanently close their doors following a nation-wide pandemic. Many small businesses are not equipped or prepared to weather such a significant economic downturn, and many individuals have taken on significant personal financial risk in the course of establishing their own small businesses.
It is therefore with excitement and hopeful optimism in our future that the Quinault Indian Nation Business Committee announces the appropriation of $5,000,000 in federal CARES Act – Title V Relief Funds targeted to provide essential economic support and relief to Quinault-owned small businesses.
These funds will be deployed through the 2020 COVID-19 Small Tribal and Native-Developed Business Interruption Grants Program (“STAND BIG Program”). On this page, you will find resources to assist you in applying for these funds, including a Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQ”) document, a STAND BIG Application document, and additional documents and information.
Although the Quinault Indian Nation has limited program dollars available to provide assistance to our people during this unprecedented health crisis, the Quinault Indian Nation Business Committee hopes these funds will help ensure the more than 500 Quinault-owned small businesses operating both on the Quinault reservation and locally in our region are able to more successfully survive the devastating impacts of COVID-19. Together we can STAND BIG to recover and grow stronger in the face of this disaster.
